Update

Pastor Jim preaching in La Libertad
School supplies to Santa Barbara prison
Wow, it is March already and almost finished with this month.  God is so good.  We have had Pastor Jim Raymond from Altoona, Kansas here for a month.  He is and was a blessing to us and the people of Honduras.  In the last year, Pastor Jim and his congregation have supplied school supplies for two prisons, one in Tela and one in Santa Barbara.  This is such a blessing for the prisoners.  Just last week, 2 members of his church joined him.  They blessed the churches and the prisons around here.

Teaching the story of  Easter
We are looking to Semana Santa next week.  For us that just means resting,  we don't go to the beach as they become very full the last of the week.  We have been teaching the children on the reason for Semana Santa.  It is amazing what they think of.  They think we are celebrating Christmas all over again or Father's Day.  Father's Day is in March here in Honduras.  Now they know the reason we celebrate.

Our Saturday group of women has grown from 6 last February to between 16 and 20.  Growth comes by planting and we are planting the Word of God in these women's hearts and lives.

New Year, New Grace

We have started a New Year with the New every morning Grace of God in our lives.  We are looking to see God move in the ministry and in our lives even more this year.  That sounds like every other year but each year we want more of God in our lives and ministry.

We closed out last year with Christmas for around 300 children; that included gifts, apples, cookies, and candy in each bag.  We also were able to bless around 75 women prisoners in 2 prisons with bags of personal hygiene products, apples, and candy.  We had a special meal with each group and they enjoyed
the tamales and sodas.  We gave around 200 apples to the men in the prison at San Pedro Sula.

We have been working with Pastor Tercero and his group of men in Pueblo Nuevo to build a church there.  Along with the church, we have been helping a family that live next to the property who are Christians and looking for the church to be built so they can go to church as a family.  Their house has no doors so someone has to stay at home while the rest go to church in the village about 2 miles down the road.  This the property that Pastor Jim Raymond will be building a house so he can spend more time in Honduras working with the prisons and people.  It is exciting to see how God is working in this area already with the church being built and plans for a halfway house for ex-prisoners to prepare to live outside the prison and become self supporting.

The end of April and the beginning of May brought Brother Tom Springer down here.  He brought the Holy Ghost and Joy to the prison and churches.  He was here for  11 days and ministered 10 days.  Many people were touched by the Holy Spirit with healing, deliverance, and receiving joy.  It was a hahahaha time.

TEAM FROM EFFINGHAM ILLINOIS

The New Year has started with several activities. Our first group this year was from Effingham, Illinois.  For some it was the first time to  come on a mission trip.  They brought school bags with school supplies for 300 children and bags   with teaching aids for 50 public school teachers.

A SAD NOTE
February started with a sad note as Valerie made a quick trip to the states because her stepmother passed away.  The glorious part is we know that she knew Jesus. Valerie's father is now a widower for the second time and is 90 years old.

        SATURDAY MINISTRY FINISHES FIRST YEAR
"And God gives the increase" Some of the parents are coming with their children to classes on Saturdays.  We have had over 20 children each time with fathers and mothers.  It is so good to know that we are reaching families with the Word of God. Several of the children are joining a Bible memory Club called Hide the Word in Your Heart  and it is growing.  They already have eagerly learned their first Verse, Psalm 119:11.  Can you say it from memory?

ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY

February also was our ANNUAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY for FMI Foundation here in Honduras.  It was  the time for re-election of the board of directors to serve for the next 2 years.  Honduras has become very strict on non-profits and churches.  100's have lost their tax  status over the last few years.  It is good because we all need to be more accountable.  Sure has added a lot to Valerie's workload since she does most of the accounting and preparation that has to be also  in Spanish.

A report on 8 prison visits with Pastor Jim Raymond will be in the next newsletter.

Thanks from Jhon and Valerie.
